Local Option Tax

The Local Option Tax was passed by registered voters of the City of Salmon on November 5, 2019. It consists of a 4% tax on hotel-motel occupancy for a fifteen year duration.

The City Council put forward a resolution for an additional 2% on hotel-motel occupancy to be placed on the November 4th, 2025. The voting public voted in favor of the proposal and the additional 2% tax went into effect on Jan 1st 2026. The revenue will be used for street improvements and to fund the City Police Department.
